In My Opinion:
The Tap Exchange Alehouse & Grill in San Antonio, TX has the wonderful atmosphere of a local neighborhood gathering place. In my first few minutes there, I observed the staff being friendly and referring to customers by their names as they strolled in. This is something you don?t see very often these days! I felt like I was in an episode of Cheers. I had a chance to sit down and talk to Jimmy (the owner) for a while. It was a great little meeting and I discovered that they?ve only been open since Jan. 2009. The Tap Exchange serves over 90% fresh and handmade food, such as hamburger patties which are hand made from ground chuck each day. They also serve over 100 varieties of beer and they usually are one of the first restaurants in the city to serve what?s new, like the popular Guinness 250.
After looking over the menu for a bit, I ordered the Ortega Burger that comes with green chiles, avocado, pepper jack and a nice portion of sweet potato fries. The burger was cook perfectly, was full of juices, and quite tender. The avocado was fresh and tasty. To my surprise the sweet potato fries were much better than I expected. The only thing that I wasn?t aware of was the green chiles, which lacked in spice and flavor, not meeting my initial expectations. Overall, it was a good burger and if you?re unsure about something on the menu, Jimmy and his staff are always happy to help.
For all of you that don?t know, I?m not much of a beer drinker, so I?d prefer to see The Tap Exchange carry some unique types of Root Beer. The parking is really great out there, especially since they are one of the first tenants in that shopping center. If you?re in the area or wanting to try a new place, head on down to The Tap Exchange Alehouse & Grill for a enjoyable time with friends and family.
